China and Vietnam signed a customs cooperation agreement on 15 April 2026 during President To Lamβs visit to China. The pact enhances information sharing and joint efforts to combat smuggling and fraud while facilitating trade.
China and Vietnam signed an Agreement on Cooperation and Mutual Administrative Assistance in Customs Matters on 15 April 2026, alongside several other bilateral cooperation agreements.
According to Xinhua News Agency, the agreements were concluded during a state visit to China by Vietnamese President To Lam.
The Agreement on Cooperation and Mutual Administrative Assistance in Customs Matters establishes a framework for cooperation between customs authorities to prevent, investigate and combat customs offences, including smuggling and fraud.
It also provides for the exchange of customs information, intelligence and data between the two sides to strengthen enforcement and improve compliance.
In addition, the agreement sets out procedures for mutual assistance, coordination and capacity-building aimed at enhancing customs control while facilitating legitimate trade between the two countries.
