Bulgaria approved a new tax treaty with Malta to prevent double taxation and replace their 1986 agreement.

The Bulgarian Council of Ministers approved a new tax treaty with Malta on 21 October 2025.

The treaty, originally signed in Brussels on 10 December 2024, aims to prevent double taxation and prevent fiscal evasion between the two countries.

It will take effect once the ratification instruments are exchanged and, when in force, will replace the 1986 tax treaty.
