India’s MoF has revised the Special Additional Excise Duty (SAED) on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) exports to INR 19.5 per litre from 15 August 2026. The change, introduced through Notification No. 44/2026-Central Excise, follows several revisions to the rate this year.

India’s Ministry of Finance (MoF) has revised the Special Additional Excise Duty (SAED) rate on exports of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) to INR 19.5 per litre, effective from 15 August 2026.

The change was made through Notification No. 44/2026-Central Excise on 14 August 2026, issued by the Department of Revenue. It further amends Notification No. 08/2026-Central Excise of 26 March 2026.

Revised rate

Under the notification, the entry against serial number 1 in the relevant table has been replaced with “INR 19.5 per litre”.

The amendment was made under Section 5A of the Central Excise Act, 1944 read with Section 147 of the Finance Act, 2002.

The ATF export SAED rate has been revised several times this year. It was initially set at INR 29.5 per litre from 26 March, before being reduced to INR 14.5 per litre from 16 July under Notification No. 39/2026-Central Excise.

Notification No. 41/2026-Central Excise subsequently increased the rate to INR 22 per litre from 3 August.

The latest notification sets the SAED rate at INR 19.5 per litre from 15 August 2026. The revised rate will apply to exports of ATF outside India from that date.

Earlier, India’s Ministry of Finance (MoF) issued three notifications revising Central Excise duty rates on select petroleum products.
