Cyprus and Vietnam had been negotiating for an income tax treaty since 2015.
Cyprus and Vietnam signed an income tax treaty on 15 September 2025.
The Agreement aims to strengthen and further develop trade and economic relations between the two countries, ensuring fair treatment while preventing opportunities for tax evasion or avoidance. It establishes clear rules for the tax treatment of transactions between states, providing investors with certainty and stability.
Additionally, the agreement facilitates the exchange of tax information and provides a framework for a Mutual Administrative Procedure to resolve tax disputes.
The agreement will take effect upon the exchange of ratification instruments and will generally be applicable from 1 January of the following year.
Earlier, officials from Cyprus and Vietnam agreed to sign an income tax treaty on 8 September 2025, which had been under negotiation since 2015.
