The Austrian Council of Ministers authorized the signing of an amending protocol to the 2000 income and capital tax treaty with Uzbekistan on 22 April 2026.

The 49th Council of Ministers (22 April 2026) approved previous minutes, extended the agenda, and adopted decisions across personnel, audit reports, and international matters including ICAO/ICJ proceedings, OECD participation, and a tax treaty protocol with Uzbekistan.

It also agreed on legislative and policy measures covering organ transplantation reform, strengthening occupational pensions, reducing VAT on selected foodstuffs to curb inflation, and a comprehensive overhaul of consumer credit law.

The protocol amends the treaty and will need to be signed and ratified before it enters into force.
