Albania and Vietnam have initialled a tax treaty on 4 June 2026 after completing a second round of negotiations in Tirana, alongside signing a memorandum of understanding on the draft agreement.

Following a second round of negotiations held in Tirana from 2 to 4 June 2026, Albania and Vietnam initialled a tax treaty on 4 June 2026.

The two countries signed a memorandum of understanding on the draft treaty.

The Vietnamese delegation was led by Deputy Director General Dang Ngoc Minh, while the Albanian delegation was headed by Zarina Taja, Director General of the Direct Tax Department at the Ministry of Finance of Albania.

Discussions during the negotiations focused on resolving remaining technical differences, clarifying each side’s positions, and identifying mutually acceptable solutions. The aim was to ensure a balance of interests, alignment with each country’s tax policies, and consistency with international practices.
