UK imposed anti-dumping duties on Chinese biodiesel on 25 November 2025 after TRA found unfair pricing harming domestic producers.

The UK’s Secretary of State has approved the Trade Remedies Authority’s (TRA) final recommendation to impose a new anti-dumping duty on biodiesel imports from China on 24 November 2025.

This announcement was made on 25 November 2025.

The TRA found that Chinese biodiesel has been sold in the UK at unfairly low prices, causing material injury to UK producers, including Argent Energy and Olleco.

After reviewing evidence and responses from interested parties to the Statement of Essential Facts, the TRA confirmed that applying an anti-dumping measure is in the UK’s economic interest. The recommended duties aim to ensure fair competition for UK producers and maintain a level playing field in the renewable fuel market.

The TRA’s recommended ad valorem duties are:

  • 14.79% for the Zhuoyue Group and non-sampled cooperating exporters
  • 54.64% for all other exporters

These duties cover imports of biodiesel, including fatty-acid mono-alkylesters (FAME) and paraffinic gasoils obtained from synthesis or hydrotreatment of non-fossil origin (HVO), in pure form or in blends, but exclude sustainable aviation fuel.

The duties will take effect on 25 November 2025.
