Argentina’s economy minister Luis Caputo announced on an X post a major tax reduction on luxury cars and motorcycles in Argentina on 28 January 2025.

This initiative is designed to make high-end vehicles more affordable while boosting demand in the country’s struggling automotive market.

The excise tax on automobiles and motorcycles will be adjusted, with either reductions or complete eliminations.

Caputo announced up to 50,000 imported low-cost electric and hybrid vehicles will be exempt from tariffs annually. Additionally, locally available cars priced between ARS 41 million (USD 39,047) and ARS 75 million (USD 71,428) will now be sold tax-free.

For vehicles valued above ARS 75 million, taxes will be reduced from 35% to 18%.
