In a recent session, held on 20 July 2023, the Moroccan House of Representatives made the decision to postpone the approval of the Multilateral Competent Authority Agreement on Automatic Exchange of Country-by-Country Reports (CbC MCAA), as well as the Multilateral Competent Authority Agreement on Automatic Exchange of Information Agreement (CRS MCAA). These agreements pertain to the implementation of reciprocal automatic exchange of financial account information. Morocco had initially signed both agreements on 25 June 2019.
After thorough deliberation and taking into account the concerns raised by Moroccan nationals residing abroad, the decision to postpone has been made. The agreements have been subject to debates regarding certain provisions, and in order to address any confusion or misinterpretation, the government aims to engage in further discussions. Where necessary, specific provisions will be modified or renegotiated to ensure the protection of the rights of Moroccan nationals.
