The US, Morocco and Israel agreed to finalise investment protection and avoidance of double taxation agreements by the end of 2026. The commitments were aimed at facilitating reciprocal investment and strengthening economic ties between Morocco and Israel.
The US, Morocco and Israel agreed on 16 September 2026 to strengthen economic cooperation, including by finalising agreements on investment protection and the avoidance of double taxation by the end of 2026.
The commitment was made during a meeting in New York between US Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Mike Waltz, Moroccan Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita and Israeli Foreign Affairs Minister Gideon Sa’ar.
Under the agreement, Morocco and Israel also confirmed plans to elevate their diplomatic missions to full embassies and exchange ambassadors. They further agreed to take measures to restore direct flights between the two countries before the end of 2026.
The investment protection and avoidance of double taxation agreements were expected to facilitate reciprocal investments and strengthen economic and business ties between Morocco and Israel.
The three countries also discussed cooperation in trade, finance and investment, innovation and technology, tourism, water, agriculture, food security, energy and telecommunications.
