The UAE FTA has urged businesses with annual revenues of AED 50 million or more to appoint an accredited e-invoicing service provider by 30 October 2026 and implement the system by 1 January 2027, warning that delays may result in administrative penalties.
The UAE Federal Tax Authority (FTA), in a release on 25 October 2026, has urged persons subject to e-invoicing requirements to meet the prescribed deadlines, including appointing an accredited service provider by 30 October 2026 and implementing the e-invoicing system by 1 January 2027.
The FTA says the system simplifies, standardises and automates invoicing. It also says that early preparation helps companies avoid penalties, and it urges them to finish every step well before the deadlines.
Companies with revenue above AED 50 million
Companies with annual revenues of AED 50 million or more must appoint an Accredited Service Provider by 30 October 2026. They must also implement the e-Invoicing System by 1 January 2027. The FTA urges these companies to act early. Firms that wait until the last minute risk penalties.
Steps companies must complete
Companies need to choose a suitable Accredited Service Provider first. They then sign a contract with that provider and connect their systems to it. Finally, they must follow the correct procedures on EmaraTax, the FTA’s digital tax services platform.
Companies with annual revenues below AED 50 million have more time. They must appoint a provider by 31 March 2027 and implement the System by 1 July 2027.
Penalties, testing and support
The applicable legislation sets an administrative penalty of AED 5,000 for each month, or part of a month, of delay. The penalty applies to late implementation and to failure to appoint a provider on time. The FTA says the penalty encourages compliance with the UAE’s digital transformation goals.
The FTA tested the System during a pilot phase. The pilot checked how well integration worked, how easy the System was to use, and whether companies were ready. The FTA is rolling out the System in phases and has adopted flexible implementation mechanisms and streamlined procedures to support business continuity. It also keeps communicating with government and private sector stakeholders.
Awareness events continue across the Emirates, along with virtual sessions. These sessions explain which categories must comply, the implementation conditions, how to connect to the System, and how to activate through EmaraTax.
In September 2026, the FTA held an expanded joint meeting in Dubai. Accredited providers, companies subject to the System and FTA officials attended. Companies used the meeting to select providers and learn about the legal framework and the process for joining the System.
Companies can review the requirements, legislation and guidance on the FTA’s website at E-invoicing.
