Turkmenistan and South Korea held high-level talks during President Serdar Berdimuhamedov’s state visit, with discussions covering trade, investment, energy, transport, education and technology. The two sides also exchanged bilateral agreements and memoranda aimed at expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.
Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung held high-level talks in Seoul on 15 September 2026 during Berdimuhamedov’s state visit to the Republic of Korea.
The two sides discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, energy, industry, transport, artificial intelligence, science, technology, water management, education and culture. They also reviewed Turkmenistan’s neutrality policy, cooperation within the United Nations and preparations to mark 35 years of diplomatic relations in 2027.
The presidents witnessed the exchange of several bilateral agreements and memoranda covering investment protection, customs cooperation, chemical industry, water management, youth affairs, intellectual property, justice, policing, infrastructure, railway transport and environmental cooperation.
The visit also resulted in additional agreements between Turkmen and South Korean companies and educational and cultural institutions, including cooperation in oil refining, transport, telecommunications, water infrastructure, shipbuilding, science, higher education and cultural exchange.
