Czech Republic and Kosovo On 20 April 2023, the Czech lower house of parliament approved the Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) with Kosovo.
Denmark and Russia On 20 April 2023, a draft law was presented in the Danish parliament to terminate the Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) with Russia.
Cyprus and Netherlands On 18 April 2023, the Dutch Senate approved the ratification of the Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) with Cyprus.
Brazil and Singapore On 17 April 2023, A Protocol amending the Agreement between the Republic of Singapore and the Federative Republic of Brazil for the Elimination of Double Taxation with Respect to Taxes on Income and the Prevention of Tax Evasion and Avoidance (DTA) and its Protocol (May 2018 Protocol) was signed.
Benin and Rwanda On 15 April 2023, the Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) between Benin and Rwanda was signed for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income.
Latvia and Russia On 13 April 2023, according to an update released by the Ministry of Finance of Russia, it has been reported that Russia officially informed the Latvian authorities on 27 March 2023, regarding its decision to terminate the Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) with Latvia. The termination of the DTA will come into effect on 1 January 2024 for withholding and other taxes.
Brazil and Poland On 12 April 2023, Mr. Andrzej Duda, the President of Poland signed a law ratifying the Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) with Brazil.
Andorra and Montenegro During the 2023 Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington from 10 to 16 April 2023, officials from Andorra and Montenegro came together to discuss bilateral matters. As a result, the Ministry of Finance of Montenegro announced that both countries have reached an agreement to conclude a tax treaty between them.
Qatar and Ukraine On 10 April 2023, the Ukrainian parliament passed a draft Law ratifying the amending protocol to the Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) with Qatar.
Azerbaijan and Japan On 6 April 2023, Azerbaijan’s National Assembly has given its approval to the law ratifying the recently negotiated Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) with Japan. Once in force and effective, the new DTA will replace the former DTA of 1986.
Cyprus and Netherlands On 4 April 2023, the lower house of the Dutch parliament approved the Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) with Cyprus for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income.
Finland and France On 4 April 2023, the Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) between Finland and France was signed. Once in force and effective, the new DTA will replace the former DTA of 1970.
Georgia and Poland On 1 April 2023, the Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) between Georgia and Poland entered into force. The DTA contains withholding tax rates for Dividends 5%, Interest 5%, and Royalties 5%. The DTA generally applies from 1 January 2024.
Luxembourg and Romania On 31 March 2023, Luxembourg’s Government Council has given its approval for the ratification of the amending protocol to the Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) with Romania.
Andorra and Czech Republic On 30 March 2023, the Czech Senate, which serves as the upper chamber of Parliament granted approval for the ratification of the income and capital tax treaty with Andorra.
Bangladesh and Iran The Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) between Bangladesh and Iran has entered into force, published in the Bangladesh Official Gazette on 29 March 2023. The DTA contains withholding tax rates for Dividends 10% for at least 10% capital holding; otherwise, 15%, Interest 10%, Royalties 7.5%, and Fees for Technical Services 7.5%. The DTA generally applies in Bangladesh from 1 July 2023 and in Iran from 21 March 2024.
Kyrgyzstan and United Kingdom On 17 March 2023, the Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) between Kyrgyzstan and the United Kingdom entered into force. The DTA is effective in the UK from 1 April 2023 for Corporation Tax, 6 April 2023 for Income Tax and Capital Gains Tax, 1 January 2024 for taxes withheld at source. The DTA is effective in the Kyrgyz Republic from 1 January 2024 for taxes withheld at source and 1 January 2023 for other taxes.
Bulgaria, German, Latvia, and Lithuania The Federal Cabinet of Germany has approved the pending protocols to the Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) with Bulgaria, Latvia, and Lithuania, which were accepted for consideration by the German Federal Council on 31 March 2023.
