South Korea is continuing to discuss free trade agreements (FTAs) with China and Vietnam. In relation to the negotiations with China safety measures are being drafted in respect of fisheries and agriculture which are very sensitive sectors in South Korea. Concerns have been expressed by the agricultural sector about the impact of Chinese imports. At the same time, there are concerns in China about the possible impact of South Korean imports on Chinese manufacturing.

Negotiations on an FTA between South Korea and Vietnam are likely to commence this year, with the aim of reaching agreement by the end of 2014.
