Taxpayers in Romania can now access pre-filled D212 Single Tax Return data via the SPV or at tax office counters. Early submission and payment by 15 April 2026 gives a 3% income tax discount.

Romania’s Ministry of Finance has expanded access to pre-filled tax data for the Single Tax Return (D212), aiming to simplify taxpayers’ interactions with the tax administration.

From 9 April 2026, reports containing pre-filled information are available directly in the “Messages” section of the Virtual Private Space (SPV) for all users logging in with a digital certificate. The tool provides a centralised view of income reported by third parties and other relevant data, enabling taxpayers to verify accuracy before submitting their returns, reducing errors and supporting voluntary compliance.

The pre-filling mechanism is already operational for users accessing the SPV via username and password. Taxpayers can import data directly into the return during completion, with the option to validate or adjust the information in real time.

Alexandru Nazare, Minister of Finance, said: “Simplifying taxpayers’ interactions with the tax administration is a priority. Every digital tool we launch must deliver a tangible benefit: less bureaucracy, more transparency, and greater trust in the relationship with the state.”

For the 2025 fiscal year, the deadline for submitting the D212 return and paying income tax and social contributions is 25 May 2026. Individual taxpayers who submit and pay by 15 April 2026 can benefit from a 3% discount on income tax.

To accommodate those without an SPV account or who prefer direct support, pre-filled reports are also available at tax office counters. By offering access through both digital and physical channels, the Ministry aims to ensure equitable access to essential tax information.

The Ministry of Finance said these measures reflect its commitment to digitalisation, transparency, and modern public services tailored to taxpayers’ needs.
