Poland’s government passed a bill to streamline and simplify VAT obligations, particularly for small businesses in the European Union.
Earlier, Poland’s Ministry of Finance approved a draft bill on 10 September 2024 to simplify and modify VAT regulations for small businesses. This bill aligns Polish law with EU regulations, enabling small Polish companies to benefit from VAT exemptions in other EU Member States.
The main provision of this bill is that VAT for online sports, entertainment, and cultural events will be paid in the Member States where consumers are located, aiming to ensure fair competition and boost VAT revenues. Additionally, it abolishes the special margin scheme for art, collectibles, and antiques with reduced VAT rates.
The new regulations are anticipated to take effect on 1 January 2025.
