The FTA between the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) comprising Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates and EFTA states like Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland has been effective form 1 July 2014 after 5 years of its signing.

A duty free access of industrial and fish products are allowed to the markets of all parties. The GCC side will face some transitional periods and will be subjected to some exceptions. It will also provide EFTA states with greater access to public tenders.
