The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has announced the Offshore Tax Informant Program (OFTP) that offers financial rewards for information that helps address major international tax non-compliance. Rewards will be paid to individuals for evidence with “specific and credible details” that help CRA fight international tax evasion, in cases where the potential additional assessment of federal tax before interest and penalties is more than CAD100,000. Payments will be made only after the tax has been collected and all recourse rights of the accused have been exhausted.
