Cambodia and Myanmar signed an income tax treaty on 11 September 2026 as part of four documents aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The Agreement for the Elimination of Double Taxation with Respect to Taxes on Income and the Prevention of Tax Evasion and Avoidance was signed alongside an agreement on the reciprocal promotion and protection of investments. The two countries also amended their cultural cooperation agreement and signed a Memorandum of Understanding on media and information cooperation.
The signing ceremony was held at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh following a bilateral meeting between Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and Myanmar President HE U Min Aung Hlaing. The Myanmar President was in Cambodia for a two-day State Visit at the invitation of King Norodom Sihamoni.
The agreement marked a new step in bilateral tax cooperation and will enter into force once the ratification instruments have been exchanged.
