Belgium’s tax authority has announced that a EUR 2 processing fee per item will apply from 1 November 2026 to eligible e-commerce goods sold remotely from third countries and imported into the EU.
Belgium’s tax authority (FPS Finance) announced on 23 October 2026 that from 1 November 2026, a European Union processing fee of EUR 2 per item will apply to eligible goods sold remotely from third countries.
Customs authorities will collect the fee to cover the processing of applications for the release of these goods.
Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2026/2152 introduces a EUR 2 customs processing fee per article for third-country e-commerce goods declared for release into free circulation in the EU. The fee is intended to cover operational costs related to customs IT systems, personnel, risk analysis, inspections, and related services.
The European Commission will review the costs every two years and adjust the fee if necessary.
The regulation entered into force on 22 October 2026 and applies from 1 November 2026.
