Armenia’s government has approved the signing of a new income tax treaty with Japan on 19 December 2024.

This follows after Armenia and Japan have agreed in principle on the new income tax treaty between the two countries on 16 October 2024.

This new agreement replaces the 1986 tax treaty between Japan and the former Soviet Union. This treaty aims to eliminate double taxation with respect to taxes on income and prevent tax evasion and avoidance between the two countries.

The tax treaty must be signed and ratified before taking effect.
