Vietnam's government has announced a 2% reduction in the average retail electricity price and a temporary removal of the special consumption tax on gasoline, effective 1 November, to ease costs for households and businesses.

Vietnam’s government said on Saturday, 31 October 2026, that it would lower the average retail electricity price by 2% from 1 November 2026.

The average tariff will fall to VND 2,159.9 per kilowatt-hour, excluding value-added tax, according to a government statement.

The government will also cut the special consumption tax on gasoline to zero from the current rate of 7% to 10%.

The zero rate will apply from 1 November until the end of March 2027.

The government said the measures were intended to maintain macroeconomic stability while supporting social welfare and business activity.
