Representatives from Ethiopia and Vietnam met on 15 April 2025 to explore opportunities for strengthening bilateral relations.

This announcement was made by the Vietnam Government News portal on 16 April 2025.

Vietnam and Ethiopia have agreed to a series of key bilateral agreements, including a free trade agreement, an investment encouragement and protection agreement, a double tax avoidance agreement, and initiatives on cybersecurity and high-tech crime.

A key outcome of the meeting was the decision to initiate talks on an income tax treaty, which would be the first of its kind between the two countries.

The treaty, once negotiated, would require formal signing and ratification before it could be implemented.
