The UK will continue to allow Bangladeshi products to enter its market duty-free until 2029, British High Commissioner to Dhaka Sarah Cook announced. She made the statement during the HSBC Export Excellence Award 2025 event on 7 December in Dhaka.
Cook added that even after 2029, around 92% of Bangladeshi exports, including ready-made garments, will still qualify for duty-free access. She said the arrangement will help diversify and stabilise Bangladesh’s export sector.
The High Commissioner noted that the decision reflects the UK’s commitment to long-term trade and economic partnerships with Bangladesh. She expressed optimism that the economic relationship between the two countries will continue to grow in the coming years.
