The Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) between UK and Albania has entered into force on December 30, 2013. The agreement follows the OECD Model Convention. It sets out reduced withholding tax rates as follows:
- 5 percent on dividends for companies owning at least 25 percent of the paying company and 10 percent for portfolio holdings;
- 6 percent on interest; and
- a zero rate for royalties.
The Agreement also incorporates the latest OECD exchange of information article, provision for arbitration and an article providing for assistance in the collection of taxes.
