The Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Switzerland and China has been adopted by the Swiss Council of States. The agreement contains provisions in respect of trade in goods and services, competition, investment promotion, intellectual property rights and commercial and environmental issues. Ties between the countries will be strengthened by the reduction and removal of duties and technical trade barriers. The agreement will increase Switzerland’s potential exports and provide a boost to the Swiss financial center. China is currently Switzerland’s third largest trading partner.
