Sri Lanka’s Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has reminded taxpayers that the first instalment of income tax for the Year of Assessment 2026/2027 is due by 15 August 2026.
The deadline applies to Corporate Income Tax (CIT), Individual Income Tax (IIT) and Partnership Income Tax (PIT).

The IRD said taxpayers can make payments through the Online Tax Payment Platform (OTPP) or at any Bank of Ceylon branch.
The procedure for calculating quarterly instalments is provided in Circular No. SEC/2026/E/06, dated 3 August 2026.
Late payments
The IRD said interest and penalties will apply to non-payment or late payment of taxes. Interest cannot be waived or reduced.
A bank draft or pay order realised after the due date will also be treated as a late payment.
