IRD has urged corporate, individual and partnership taxpayers to settle their final income tax payment for the Year of Assessment 2025/2026 before the due date, warning that interest and penalties for late payment cannot be waived or reduced.

Sri Lanka’s Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has reminded taxpayers that the last date for final payment of income tax for the Year of Assessment 2025/2026 falls on 30 September 2026, and has urged them to make payments on or before the deadline.

Tax type codes

In a notice to taxpayers, the IRD listed the applicable tax type codes and payment period codes for three categories of income tax. All three categories share the payment period code 25260 and fall under payment category S.

  • Corporate Income Tax (CIT) — tax type code 02
  • Individual Income Tax (IIT) — tax type code 05
  • Partnership Income Tax (PIT) — tax type code 09

Payment channels

The department encouraged taxpayers to settle dues through its Online Tax Payment Platform (OTPP), directing them to the relevant page on the IRD website for further details and the User Guide for Online Tax Payments Platform.

Payments for CIT, PIT and IIT can also be made at any branch of the Bank of Ceylon.

Taxpayers who do not use the preprinted paying-in slip when making payment at a bank branch have been advised to fill in the Document Identification Number (DIN) on the slip to ensure accurate processing. The DIN can be obtained through the IRD’s e-services portal or by calling 011 213 4780.

Penalty for late payment

The IRD cautioned that interest and penalties shall be imposed for non-payment or late payment of taxes, and that such interest cannot be waived off or reduced. It further clarified that the realisation of a bank draft or pay order after the due date will also be treated as a late payment.
