The Social Security Administration in Spain is to commence directly invoicing employers in respect of monthly social security bills, instead of relying on employers to deduct the contributions from wages on a monthly basis. The invoice will be submitted directly online to each business, thereby increasing the amount of government supervision over the process and to combat tax evasion by employers. The new system has already been the subject of a trial involving three hundred employers and is to be phased in by July 2014.
