On January 18, 2015, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) of South Korea announced that the 6th round of negotiations for a trilateral free trade agreement (FTA) between China, Japan and South Korea was held in Tokyo, Japan on 16 and 17 January 2015.
Wang Shouwen, the Chinese Assistant Minister of Commerce, Yasumasa Nagamine, the Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister and Woo Tae-hee, the South Korean Assistant Commerce Minister attended the event as chief negotiators.
Previously, China, Japan and South Korea agreed to separately hold working level talks and discussions among chief negotiators from the 6th round of negotiations, to progress them in an efficient manner.
The top negotiators from the three countries continued intensive and comprehensive discussions about goods, services, investment and the scope of the FTA. The seventh round of negotiations will be held in Korea in April, 2015.
