German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron, in a joint Financial Times op-ed, urged the European Union to undertake reforms to enhance competitiveness and secure its way of life.
They emphasised the need for decarbonising the economy, but believes member states should choose the methods themselves.
Additionally, they called for the completion of the single financial market through unified insolvency, and tax and investment frameworks.
“Our Europe is mortal, and we must rise to the challenge,” they wrote.
