Recently, the Russian Federal Tax Service (FTS) issued a Notice on the increased late payment penalty from 1 October 2017.

The procedure for calculating the penalty for each calendar day of delay in the fulfillment of the obligation to pay tax or insurance premium will be determined depending on the number of days of delay.

So, according to point 4 of Article 75 of the Tax Code of the Russian Federation, the penalty for each day of delay is determined as a percentage of the unpaid tax amount.

For late payment of tax by organizations for up to 30 calendar days, the rate will be 1/300 of the refinancing rate of the Central Bank. Starting from the 31st calendar day of such delay, the default interest will be 1/150 of the refinancing rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation effective from the 31st calendar day of such delay.
