CBP CBP releases E-Commerce Strategy:
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection released its e-commerce strategy on March 6, 2018, that addresses the growing volume of imported small packages and the challenges and opportunities it presents for the U.S. economy and security. The e-commerce strategy strengthens CBP’s ability to protect health and safety while maintaining a strong trade facilitation posture in e-commerce. See Details
CBP signs agreements with Mexican counterparts for better cooperation:
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner, Kevin McAleenan, and Chief of Mexico’s Tax Administration Service, Osvaldo Santin, signed a memorandum of cooperation on customs and trade enforcement in Mexico City. This agreement will facilitate the development and implementation of joint and coordinated programs aimed at increasing trade and customs compliance, as well as help combat illicit activities. Coffee imported to Puerto Rico:
On April 28, 2018, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will deploy a new, separate class code (class code 672) in ACE for coffee imported into Puerto Rico. Pursuant to 19 USC 1319, additional duties are assessed on any coffee imports into Puerto Rico. On April 28, 2018, ACE will be updated the new class code 672 to account for these extra duties on coffee imports into Puerto Rico. See Details

Imports of steel and aluminum articles under Section 232:
On March 22, 2018, CBP provided entry summary filing instructions for imports of steel and aluminum subject to the March 8 and March 22 Presidential Proclamations on adjusting imports of steel and aluminum into the United States (U.S.). Importers or filers receiving one of the reject messages described in CSMS message # 18-000240, who have researched their classification and dates to confirm the entry summaries were incorrectly rejected, should contact their assigned client representative with the results of their review. Two-day extension of informed compliance for NMFS SIMP:
This announcement informs trade that the “Informed Compliance Period” for the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) Seafood Import Monitoring Program (SIMP), as announced on February 8, 2018, is extended for two days beyond the previously commenced date.  The previous announcement established the concluding date as April 7, 2018.  That date is now extended from April 7, 2018 to April 9, 2018.  From April 9, 2018, all filings covered by the Seafood Import Monitoring Program regulations must comply with the electronic filing requirements for an entry to receive a “may proceed”. Note that, the code for enforcing the SIM HTS flags with a reject, will be in the ACE CERT environment by March 20, 2018. See Details

FSIS Eligibility of foreign countries to export siluriformes fish and fish products:
This FSIS notice 14-18 gives instructions to inspection program personnel (IPP) at official import inspection establishments for actions to take when they receive imported Siluriformes fish and fish products from the following countries: Bangladesh, Canada, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, The Gambia, Guyana, Mexico, Myanmar, Nigeria, and Pakistan.
