Federal Register Amendment to the international traffic in arms regulations:
This proposed Rule has been given by the State Department on February 9, 2016. As part of the President’s Export Control Reform (ECR) effort, the Department of State proposes to amend the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) to revise Categories VIII (aircraft and related articles) and XIX (gas turbine engines and associated equipment) of the U.S. Munitions List (USML) to describe more precisely the articles warranting control on the USML. The Department of State will accept comments on this proposed rule until March 25, 2016. See details
Tariff reclassification of a steel tube fitting from Taiwan:
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has received a petition submitted in favor of a domestic interested party requesting the reclassification of a steel tube fitting from Taiwan under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS). CBP classified the steel tube fitting under subheading 7307.99.50, subject to “Tube or pipe fittings (for example, couplings, elbows, sleeves), of iron or steel: Other: Other: Other.” General 4.3% rate of duty is imposed for that heading. Petitioner contends that the proper classification for the steel tube fitting is under subheading 8412.90.90 entitled “Other engines and motors, and parts thereof: Parts: Other.” which is duty free. The refund of duties paid on imports of certain wool products:
The Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) announces that it will accept affidavits from individuals or firms to substantiate eligibility for distributions from the refund of duties paid on imports of certain wool products program authorized under Section 12315 of the Agricultural Act of 2014. Stainless Steel Wire Rod From Italy, Japan, Korea, Spain, and Taiwan:
Effective from January 6, 2016, the Commission established a schedule for the conduct of the final phase of the subject reviews of stainless steel wire rod from Italy, Japan, Korea, Spain, and Taiwan. Final party comments are due on June 29, 2016. See details
APHIS International Trade Data System (ITDS):
President Obama signed an executive order streamlining the import and export process for America’s businesses on February 19, 2014. Implementation of the International Trade Data System (ITDS) is underway now. Upon full implementation, ITDS, through the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE), will allow businesses to electronically submit the data required by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and its Partner Government Agencies (PGAs) to import or export cargo through a “Single Window” concept.
