The agreement aims to enhance transparency and cooperation on tax matters between the two nations.

Panama’s Cabinet has approved the tax information exchange agreement (TIEA) with Ecuador on 30 September 2025.

A TIEA is a bilateral arrangement between two nations, designed to create a structured framework for sharing information on both civil and criminal tax issues.

Signed on 14 August 2025, this agreement marks the first collaboration of its kind between the two nations and aims to enhance transparency and cooperation on tax matters.

The agreement will officially take effect once both countries complete the process of exchanging ratification instruments.
