The OECD’s Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes has recently issued reports resulting from peer reviews of the tax systems of a number of jurisdictions. Thirteen jurisdictions were reviewed and assessed in respect of their provision for and implementation of tax information exchange, and on 31 July 2013 the reports were issued by the Global Forum. These reports will be used in assigning ratings to jurisdictions in respect of their compliance with international standards. The peer reviews are being conducted by the Global Forum in line with the current efforts by the G20 to combat tax evasion and encourage tax cooperation.
