On 7 March 2018 the OECD and Egypt’s Ministry of Finance launched a programme entitled Enhancing domestic resource mobilisation in Egypt through a better tax and exchange of information system. The programme involves funding from the EU to support Egypt in implementation the standards set out in the OECD reports on tackling base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS).

Egypt is a member of the Inclusive Framework on BEPS. The jurisdictions participating in the Inclusive Framework are involved in the development of the monitoring process for the four minimum standards under BEPS. They are also involved in the review mechanisms for other parts of the BEPS package including prevention of treaty abuse and country by country reporting by multinational enterprises.

Egypt is also a member of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information which is working to implement the standards on transparency and information exchange in tax. In addition to this Egypt has joined the project on revenue statistics in Africa which is developing standard indicators of government revenues to facilitate comparison of revenues between countries.
