Luxembourg officials met with CuraƧao’s Finance Minister Javier Silvania to begin negotiations for a double taxation agreement on 30 April 2025.

The treaty will focus on financial services, including banking and investment funds. Luxembourg, a key financial center in Europe, is seen as a strategic partner for CuraƧao in strengthening cross-border investments.

The discussions took place during the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. CuraƧao is working to expand its international financial connections and improve its fiscal position through these negotiations.

The treaty, the first between the two nations, must be finalised, signed, and ratified before it can take effect.
