A meeting took place in Addis Ababa between the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Asein Isaev, and the Minister of Finance of Ethiopia, Ahmed Shide.

Asein Isaev provided detailed information on the country’s socio-economic development and the ongoing reforms under the leadership of the head of state. He also expressed readiness to establish close ties with Ethiopia in the areas of trade and economic cooperation. Ethiopia is considered the political center of Africa and a trade gateway.

In turn, Ethiopia’s Minister of Finance emphasized that, despite the geographical distance between the countries, Ethiopia is genuinely interested in developing trade with Kyrgyzstan. In 2024, Ethiopia’s GDP is projected to reach 210 billion dollars, and with a population of over 120 million, it ranks fifth in Africa.

The Kyrgyz side proposed signing an agreement to avoid double taxation between the countries and also invited Ethiopia’s Minister of Finance to visit Kyrgyzstan.
