Japan and the UAE concluded the seventh round of negotiations on their Economic Partnership Agreement in Tokyo from 19 to 22 January 2026, holding discussions across a wide range of areas aimed at strengthening bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
Japan and the UAE concluded the seventh round of negotiations for their Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) in Tokyo, held from 19 to 22 January 2026.
The meeting was attended, from the Japanese side, by TAKAHASHI Katsuhiko, Ambassador for International Economic Affairs and Chief Negotiator along with representatives from relevant ministries. From the UAE side, HE Ayoub Abdulmalik Ahli, Chief Negotiator of the UAE, along with representatives from relevant ministries attended the meeting.
During this meeting, the two sides held active discussions on the modality of negotiations as well as on Trade in Goods, Rules of Origin, Trade in Services, Competition Policy, Investment Facilitation, Intellectual Property, Digital Trade and other areas.
The discussions are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen economic and trade cooperation between Japan and the UAE.
