Iceland’s Budget Committee convened on 16 September 2024 to discuss the 2025 Budget Bill, which is now open for public consultation for comments until 3 October 2024.
On 13 September 2024, the 2025 Budget Bill was approved in the parliament after the first round of initial discussion. It has now been forwarded to the Budget Committee for further review.
Iceland’s finance minister Sigurður Ingi Jóhannsson presented the 2025 Budget on 10 September 2024, confirming that neither tax increases nor cuts are being considered.
Additionally, on 16 September 2024, a bill amending various laws related to the 2025 Budget Bill also went through its first round of discussion in parliament. It was sent to the Economic Affairs and Trade Committee for further consideration.
The Budget Committee reviewed the bill on 17 September 2024 and opened it for public consultation until 1 October 2024.
