The Inland Revenue Department urges taxpayers to meet the 4 June 2026 deadline for individual tax returns, with extended timeframes available for sole proprietors and those filing electronically.
The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has reminded Hong Kong taxpayers that individual tax returns for the 2025/26 assessment year must be submitted promptly following their issue on 4 May 2026.
Most individual taxpayers have until 4 June 2026 to file their returns—exactly one month from the issue date. However, sole proprietors receive additional time and must submit by 4 August 2026, giving them a three-month window.
Those who choose electronic filing through the eTAX Individual Tax Portal (ITP) automatically receive an extra month. This extends the deadline to 4 July 2026 for regular taxpayers and 4 September 2026 for sole proprietors.
Taxpayers who haven’t received their forms—perhaps due to an address change—have several options. ITP users can update their correspondence address through the User Profile section and request a paper return online. Alternatively, you can submit the form included with the notice by fax or post, or visit the Central Enquiry Counter at the Inland Revenue Centre, 5 Concorde Road, Kai Tak.
For those simply needing a duplicate sent to their registered address, applications can be made through the IRD website’s electronic services, by calling the hotline at 187 8022, or by returning the completed form.
The department encourages online filing for convenience, eliminating the need for duplicate paper returns. Questions about ITP accounts can be directed to 183 2011.
