On 2 October 2023, Greece submitted the 2024 draft budget to the parliament, which encompasses the following proposed modifications:

  • The draft budget proposes raising the tax credit by EUR 1,000 for individuals who have one or more dependent children.
  • The draft budget proposes a decrease in the capital accumulation tax rate, reducing it from 0.5% to 0.2% for transactions starting on 1 January 2024.
  • The draft budget incorporates the implementation of a 13% accommodation tax on short-term property rentals for individuals and legal entities owning three or more rental properties. To take effect, these measures included in the draft budget must undergo the legislative process.
  • The proposed change involves a 50% reduction in the tax applied to stock market transactions, specifically the sale price of shares.
  • The proposed change entails the elimination of the tax associated with capital bonds.
