On 29 July 2019, the Finance Minister of Ghana presented the 2019 mid-year budget statement to the parliament. The budget proposed the following measures:

  • Increasing in Communication Service Tax from 6% to 9%;
  • The cancellation of the Luxury Vehicle Tax which was presented in 2018;
  • Presenting a five-year tax holiday for companies under the government’s One-District-One-Factory program which is aimed to create at least one factory or enterprise in each of the 216 districts of Ghana as a means of ensuring economic growth, which will accelerate the development of these areas and create jobs;
  • Introducing an exemption from duties, taxes and charges on machinery, equipment and parts , as well as some types of raw materials not exempted; and
  • Increasing in Energy Sector Levies and Tax incentives for 1D1F companies.
