Reports suggest that France aims to put forward the idea of a tax to be imposed on data transfers outside of the European Union (EU) at the upcoming European summit meeting due to be held on October 24 and 25.
Together with Germany and the UK, France is spearheading the drive at European level to close existing tax loopholes, which currently allow US Internet and other digital giants to reduce the tax they pay on business activities conducted in Europe.
