The Czech Republic has completed parliamentary approval of its 2025 income tax treaty with Kenya, which aims to prevent double taxation and tax evasion and sets withholding tax rates on dividends, interest, royalties, and technical service fees.
The Czech Republic Chamber of Deputies has approved the 2025 Czech Republic–Kenya Income Tax Treaty on 15 October 2026.
Following the Czech Senate’s approval on 6 May 2026, the treaty has now received approval from both chambers of the Czech Parliament.
The treaty aims to prevent double taxation and combat tax evasion. It covers personal and corporate income taxes in the Czech Republic and income tax in Kenya, setting withholding tax rates of 10% on dividends and 12% on interest, royalties, and technical service fees, subject to certain exemptions for government-related interest payments.
The treaty will next be submitted to the President of the Czech Republic for ratification.
The treaty will enter into force once the two countries exchange their instruments of ratification. Its provisions will apply from 1 January of the year following its entry into force.
