On 20 October 2020, the Prime Minister and Minister of Labor, Pension System, Family and Social Policy presented the continuation of tax relief measures to preserve jobs due to the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The main objective of the support measures is to ensure employment and wages in sectors particularly affected by the Covida-19 pandemic.

The Government announced to extend the wage subsidy scheme for sectors adversly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Under the extension, employers are granted a subsidy up to HRK 4,000 per month per full-time employee. Also, an amount of HRS 250 was also included for pension insurance contributions.

Government also expanded the range of activities like sectors of transport, catering, hotels, organization of various events, the sectors of crop and livestock production, fishing and related activities and services related to passenger and water transport are added, including occasional transport in receiving support. At the same time, the beneficiaries of the current support for micro-entrepreneurs, i.e. those who have less than 10 employees, i.e. from one to nine employees, are entitled to this support regardless of the sector of activity and more than 2,000 kuna per worker. This simplifies implementation and merges the two measures into one – one for micro-entrepreneurs with measures to preserve jobs. The measure will apply until the end of this year.
