An initial meeting has been held in connection with the negotiation of a free trade agreement (FTA) between Canada and Colombia. Colombia is Canada’s fifth-largest trading partner in Latin America and is an established market for Canadian businesses. The country has been identified as a priority under Canada’s Strategy for Engagement in the Americas and Canada’s Global Markets Action Plan.
