The two countries agreed to advance income tax treaty negotiations initiated in 2015.
Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on 5 July 2025, to discuss bilateral relations.
The two countries have agreed to accelerate negotiations for an income tax treaty to prevent double taxation, which was initiated in 2015. Furthermore, both sides committed to advancing discussions aimed at signing cooperation agreements in key areas, including investment protection and visa facilitation for their citizens.
Any resulting treaty would be the first between the two nations and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before it can take effect.
