Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iceland have begun negotiations on an income tax treaty, aiming to strengthen economic cooperation and advance an agreement on the avoidance of double taxation.

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that officials from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iceland held talks on 18 February 2026 to review bilateral relations.

The meeting marked the start of preparations for negotiating an income tax treaty between the two countries. Both sides expressed a strong interest in deepening cooperation, particularly in economic areas, and in advancing an Agreement on the Avoidance of Double Taxation.

If an agreement is reached, it must go through a process of negotiation, formal signing, and ratification in both jurisdictions before it can enter into force.
